For several years I have felt the Vancouver classification of periprosthetic fractures does not really address their causes and treatment as rationally as I would like, so I proposed a more rational approach which we then used to analyse our results. We have produced a special issue of Injury dealing with periprosthetic fractures, and we wrote an article for this issue detailing our proposed classification. Please click here to view/download the article.
